Shawn Dugan, Midwest Regional Manager

From working second shift loading trucks to helping lead regional growth, Shawn Dugan’s career reflects the kind of hands-on experience and integrity that define J2 Resources.

Shawn joined J2 in November 2017 as the company’s fourth employee. Nearly eight years later, he now serves as Midwest Regional Manager, overseeing engineered products and supporting customers across a broad geographic footprint. His path to J2—and his growth within it—mirrors the company’s own evolution.

A Career Built from the Ground Up

Shawn’s professional journey began shortly after high school with four years of service in the United States Marine Corps. After the military, he entered the PVF industry on second shift, loading trucks and learning operations from the ground level.

From there, he moved into field service, repairing meters, actuators, and load arms at terminals across the region. Over time, Shawn progressed into inside sales, sales management, and branch management roles, gaining firsthand experience across nearly every function of distribution operations.

“Exposure matters. I’ve been on the warehouse floor, in field service, and in sales. I’ve seen what each role needs to succeed.”

After working with multiple distributors early in his career, Shawn was drawn to J2 Resources by its mission and leadership. What stood out most was J2’s focus on value creation: eliminating unnecessary links in the supply chain, operating within approved PVF and engineered product spaces, and serving as a true resource for end users.

“That idea of being a resource has always stuck with me. Not just selling products, but helping customers make the right decisions.”

Shawn started at J2 as an account manager covering the Midwest and Northeast regions. At the time, the company operated with a small team and a lean setup, including Shawn working from his kitchen table during the early years.

Today, J2 Resources has grown significantly, with dedicated offices, expanded teams, and a broader product offering. Shawn’s current role as Midwest Regional Manager reflects both that growth and his wide-ranging experience. His responsibilities now include overseeing engineered products, supporting regional sales efforts, and helping scale operations while maintaining J2’s service standards.

A Culture Built on Integrity

When asked what he enjoys most about working at J2, Shawn doesn’t hesitate: the people.

Coming from a military background, Shawn values teamwork and trust above all else. He describes J2’s culture as one where every employee—from warehouse to leadership—is empowered to speak up, solve problems, and improve processes.

“At J2, integrity comes first. Whether it’s product quality, specifications, or being honest when things don’t go perfectly, everything is face-up. No shortcuts.”

That commitment to integrity, Shawn believes, strengthens long-term relationships with customers and manufacturing partners alike.

Shawn credits his broad career experience with helping him contribute meaningfully to J2’s success. Having worked across operations, service, and sales, he brings a practical understanding of how decisions impact every level of the organization.

“I’ve touched most roles in this industry at some point. That perspective helps when you’re building systems, supporting teams, and executing on the vision.”

Beyond the Office

Outside of work, Shawn is a self-proclaimed Marvel enthusiast. A late bloomer to the franchise, he got into Marvel movies while raising his son and still enjoys keeping up with the universe today. He’s a proud father of two and a dedicated Cincinnati Bearcats fan.

From employee number four to regional leadership, Shawn’s journey reflects the values J2 Resources was built on: hard work, accountability, and long-term relationships.

As the company continues to grow, leaders like Shawn help ensure that J2 never loses sight of what matters most: people, integrity, and delivering real value to customers.
