John Brunetti raises two- and three-year old colts and fillies for the track—animals that take years of steady work before they’re ready to run. It’s the same instinct he brought to J2 Resources back in December 2016, when he and Joe Dugan built the company around an idea that wouldn’t show its full value overnight: connect the customer directly to the source of manufacturing, and build a supply chain with fewer hands in between.
Patience as a Business Model
Direct distribution isn’t a fast idea. It means qualifying manufacturers instead of buying from whoever’s closest. It means building the relationships, the documentation, and the internal processes to make a shorter supply chain actually work. John and Joe spent years putting those pieces in place, one relationship and one process at a time. That patience is visible in how far the company has come since.
Doing Whatever the Day Requires
These days, John’s focus sits on pricing, strategic management, margin enhancement, and inventory efforts. If you ask him which company value resonates most with him, John won’t point to a slogan. His answer will always be teamwork—specifically, watching people work together consistently toward the same goal, year after year.
That consistency is also how he describes what sets J2 apart from other places he’s worked: family-oriented, flexible with individual schedules, and full of people who are genuinely glad to be there. It’s a culture that got built the same way our supply chain did: steadily, and on purpose.
A Decade of Patience, Paying Off for Everyone
If there’s one moment John points to as the most meaningful of his career, it isn’t a single quarter or deal. It’s watching nearly a decade of that patience turn into something bigger than the two people who started the company. When J2 became a part of the Harrington family, it wasn’t just a milestone for our founders—it meant the people who’d built the company alongside them, and their families, had a more secure future. For John, that’s what all the years of steady work were actually building toward.
When He’s Not Pricing PVF…
That same long view carries into life outside of work. Having three-year-old twin boys means John doesn’t have “days off,” and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He also cares for horses that are currently just a year or two away from seeing the track. Day in and day out, John’s still patiently building for the long run—one quote (and one colt) at a time.
